Overview

the sixth member of the IIT fraternity, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati was established in 1994. The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995 and now the Institute has eleven departments and five inter-disciplinary academic centres. The institute and its departments cover all the major engineering, science and humanities disciplines, offering B.Tech, B.Des, MA, M.Des, M.Tech, MSc and PhD programmes. IIT Guwahati has world class infrastructure for carrying out advanced research and has been equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments over an area of 285 hectares plot of land on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech

10+2 passed with a minimum of 75% marks (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology as main subjects)

Eligibility Criteria for B.Des

10+2 qualified from a recognized board in any stream

Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech

B.E. or B.Tech in relevant discipline with 60% marks

Students seeking admission in sponsored and part-time modes must have at least two years of work experience in the relevant field

Eligibility Criteria for M.A

Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks from a recognised institute or university

Eligibility Criteria for Ph.D

M.Arch/ M.Des/ M.Tech/ M.E in relevant area with 60% marks
