Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), formerly Hindustan College of Engineering, is an institute deemed-to-be-university headquartered in Chennai, India. It was founded in 1985 by K. C. G. Verghese and was granted deemed-to-be-university status from the University Grants Commission in 2008. It has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with 'A' Grade. HITS Chennai is one of the most reputed engineering institution in Tamil Nadu as it offers well-built infrastructure and highly skilled faculty. The University stood at 4th rank in Chennai, 18th in South India and 30th in all India among private Engineering institutions as per NIRF 2019.

BTech admission is based on candidate's rank in HITSEEE. Although JEE Mains is preferred over HITSEEE.

BArch aspirants are required to possess a valid NATA score.

Admission to BA/BSc/BCom/BBA are accepted on the basis of merit and the marks obtained in their boards.

BDes admission is based on a design aptitude test followed by an interview by the respective faculty member.

For PG programmes, candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the entrance exam conducted by the University, followed by GDPI.
