IIT Delhi Distinguished Alumni Awards: Flipkart Co-Founder
The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) has recognised Binny Bansal, the co-founder of the e-commerce platform Flipkart, as a distinguished alumnus. The billionaire entrepreneur was a student at the institute and completed his degree of B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) from there in computer science and engineering.

Binny Bansal graduated from IIT Delhi, one of the top Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), in 2005. He is the youngest alumnus who has been awarded for his “outstanding contribution made in entrepreneurship†this year.

IIT Delhi also recognised some other people as distinguished alumni for the year 2022 including Mohit Aron and Srinivasan Keshav. Srinivasan Keshav graduated from the institute in 1986 and is now a professor at the University of Cambridge. He has been recognised for his contribution to research and training.

Aron, on the other hand, graduated in 1995 and founded Cohesity and Nutanix. He has been recognised for his contribution to entrepreneurship. Cohesity was founded in 2013 and was launched publicly later in 2015. It is a privately held enterprise storage company which introduced a platform designed for consolidating and managing secondary data. With its headquarters in San Jose, California, Cohesity has raised a sum of 70 million dollars in venture funding since its inception.

Nutanix was also founded by Aron and it is a cloud computing software company. Nutanix sells a certain kind of appliances which it calls Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) appliances and also software-defined storage. It is also headquartered in San Jose, California.

IIT Delhi has also recognised two alumni for the significant efforts and contribution made by them in the direction of the institute’s development and progress. These alumnae include Arun Duggal and Amarjit Singh Bakshi. Arun Duggal graduated in 1967 in mechanical engineering and serves as the chairman of ICRA at present. ICRA is an independent and professional Indian agency which caters to investment information and credit rating. Amarjit Bakshi is the MD of the Central Park group which is known for its upscale properties in Gurugram. He completed B.Tech in Civil Engineering from the institute in 1967.

IIT Delhi recognised the commendable and significant journeys undertaken by some of its meritorious students and congratulated them on their success.
